How this is funded, and why it still opens by sending you to a free report before anybody sells you anything.

Homeowners are never charged. ClearTapCall is paid by the contractor it routes to, and the site still opens by telling readers to go and read a free published report before buying anything at all.
After the report, the call
You give us the ZIP code and what you are trying to achieve. We check it against the areas our partner contractors cover and connect you with one who covers yours. If nobody does, we say so on the call.
We do not take details to pass on later and we do not sell them.
Who pays us, and what that skews
The contractors, when we route them a call. You are never charged anything, whether or not any work goes ahead.
Which gives us a reason to want you to call, so here is the counterweight: this site opens by telling you to go and read a free document before you buy anything, and one of its pages exists to say that a certification does not cover what a buyer assumes. Both of those cost us calls, and both are true.
The order we actually recommend
Find your report and read it. Work out which certification names the thing you care about. Decide whether the answer is a device you buy yourself and look after, which for many households it is. Call somebody only if what you need is plumbed in.
Three of those four steps do not involve us at all, and that is the right shape for this subject.
Not a retailer or a laboratory
We are not a contractor, not a laboratory, not a retailer and not your water system. We carry out no work, we sell no equipment, we test no water, we hold no results, we do not set prices and we supervise nobody. Contractors in our network are independent businesses required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands.
We do not vouch for any individual contractor and no page here says we do.
And we recommend no products
No brand appears anywhere on this site, in any context. Where a question needs a specific answer we point at EPA’s own certification tools rather than at a catalog, and nothing here is a statement about the water at any address.

Read your report before you buy anything.It is published about your own system, it costs nothing, and it is the only thing that turns “I want a filter” into a question with an answer.
